ついについに、
来年度から、ずっと目指していた総務省で総合職として働くことが決まりました。

総務省という会社に出会えたことがとても嬉しいです。
１年間の口永良部島生活を終えて、地域の強い味方になりたい、そして、地域の方々と一緒に本気でこれからの国の形を考えていきたい、という想いがみなぎっていた僕は、ふと総務省の説明会に行って、あまりにも熱い職員の方々のお話に雷に打たれたようになりました。それまで国家公務員＝官僚ということさえも知らなかった僕でしたが、意識が戻った頃には「何があっても絶対にここで働きたい」と思いました。

しかし、国家公務員試験になかなか合格できませんでした。１年に２回ある試験に４回落ちました。３年間の戦いとなりました。早く受かれよ、という話なのですが、詰めの甘い僕は４回落ちました。
この間、泣いたり笑ったりしました。迷ったり悩んだりしました。ただ間違い無く言えるのは、一瞬も諦めなかったということです。

応援してくれる人がいたから、目指し続けることができました。
僕が落ちてもなんでも、何も言わずに支えてくれる人たちがいました。家族や友人です。僕が僕であり続ける限り、どんな僕でも受け入れてくれる人たちでした。
同時に、僕が弱気になっている時に、叱咤激励してくれる人たちもいました。少し他の選択肢に気持ちが寄っている時に、「え、なに、諦めんの？」と、当然のごとく詰め寄ってくる人たちがいました。こんなに公務員試験で粘り続けるやつもそうおらず、大学も卒業していて、「変」なのは明らかに僕なのに、少しでも「普通」という安心を求めようとした時に、そこに強烈な違和感を感じて、詰め寄ってくる友人がいました。その厳しさのおかげで、堂々と、官僚を目指し続けることができました。

大学を卒業したのは2016年。既卒2年目にしてやっと合格しました。

初めて採用面接にたどり着き、総務省の方々に僕の経験をお話しできるところまで来ました。そして、これでもかというぐらい、口永良部島の話をしました。そして、これでもかというぐらい、言葉では伝えられない１年間の重みを、理解してくださる職員の方々がいました。そして一緒に働きたいと言ってくださいました。

４月から働きます。
もっと詳しく、なぜ総務省なのか、そしてどのような仕事を担う会社なのか、お伝えしたいです。近々ブログを再開します。
さらに、同期中、私立大出身が僕だけです。SFC生は、知れば、絶対に興味を持つし、活躍する人がたくさんいると思います。増やしたいです。

入省前は、今しかできないことをするべく、今しか行けない場所に行って、今しか会えない人に会って、今しか聞けない話を聞いて、今しかできない勉強をして過ごします。たくさんアカペラしたいなと思います。

「地域活性化」や「人口増加」のような議論の前に、地域の方々と中枢の職員が、同じ日本を形づくるチームとして、どれだけ協働していけるか、が鍵だと思っています。そうして、これからの100年をつくっていきたいです。
